Phylloxera Festival in Sant Sadurní de Anoia
The Filoxera Festival has a prelude on September 7 at night, just after the traditional fire castle of the Fairs and Festivals inSant Sadurní d'Anoia.
The Sant Sadurní d'Anoia Phylloxera Festival recalls how, at the end of the 19th century, the people of Sadurní overcame the phylloxera plague that devastated the municipality's vineyards, and its protagonists are fire and music.
The Filoxera Festival begins with the first dance of the peasants, who dance in two circles to represent the tranquility of the inhabitants of Sant Sadurní before the phylloxera plague arrived.
To celebrate the victory over the plague, the party ends with a sprinkling of cava, while the music invites all the participants and the audience to dance in the middle of the square to celebrate the culmination of a new edition of the Fiesta de la Phylloxera.
