Castellfollit de Riubregós

Belonging to the region of Anoia and located in the Vall del Llobregós is the communication gate between the Anoia and the Segarra. It has an extension of 26.28 km ^2.

It is a town of medieval origin and born in frontier lands under the protection of a castle that still stands majestically among its own ruins. The municipality is currently made up of an urban nucleus and several scattered farmhouses.

The main economic activities are agriculture, livestock and services.

Of the most emblematic places of the municipality we can emphasize its narrow and steep streets, the small churches that can be found within the term and especially the old Benedictine monastery of the Priorat of Santa Maria.

In process of rehabilitation, this border and hospitable town conserves two of the four watchtowers that watched it during centuries. In the surroundings, you can also find fountains and farmhouses still inhabited located in beautiful natural landscapes.

Places of interest

• Priorat de Santa Maria: Romanesque church consecrated in 1082 and converted into a priory in 1093.
• Castle of Sant Esteve: The fortress already existed in the vicinity of the tenth century as a possession of the Counts of Cerdanya.
• Torre de Balet: Torre albarrana del Castillo, now restored, also named after the Torre del Ballester because it is close to the ballesteria farmhouse.
• Torre del Raval: It is the second tower, together with the one of Ballet that is still standing and that constituted the fortified set of Castellfollit de Riubregós.
• Roser Church and Plaza Major: The Plaza Major is the center of the old town and we can find the current parish church dedicated to the Mare de Déu del Roser.
