Garrigàs
Garrigàs is part of the Alt Empordà region, province of Gerona. The municipal term has an extension of 19 km2 and 101 m of altitude.
The limits of the municipal term are to the north with Vilamalla, to the east with Siurana, Palacio de Santa Eulalia and Sant Mori, to the south with Vilaür and to the west with Bàscara, Pontós and Borrassà. It has aggregated the nuclei of Arenys de Empordà, Ermedàs, Tonyà and Vilajoan.
It is popularly considered that the typical dishes of this municipality are the duck dish, the apple filling and, above all, the sweet sausage. thyme, rosemary and aromatic herbs, they made a great bonfire and kept it lit in front of the hermitage throughout the day. It was about perfuming oneself with the fragrant smoke that the bonfire gave off, because in this way, according to popular belief, the eyesight was strengthened and the saint would guard them and protect them from evil eyes. Currently, between Garrigàs and Tonyà, there is an area known as "Las Pasaras". This name originated in the times when the black plague was raging among the Empordà population: this place was used by the people of Garrigàs and surroundings to "pass" food in the neighboring municipality of Siurana d'Empordà, which had been isolated by the high rate of infection of its inhabitants.
