Carnival in Balaguer 2026
Balaguer celebrates the Carnival of the Congre again!
A celebration deeply rooted in the territory that combines tradition, gastronomy, massive parades, music and competitions with important prizes.
The festivities begin with a culinary offering closely linked to the local Carnival: a tasting of conger eel stew, a typical end-of-Carnival dish, which can be enjoyed in Plaça del Pou, accompanied by live music. In the afternoon, the spotlight shifts to the grand Carnival Parade, with a gathering of floats, troupes, and costumed revelers in the Mercadal and a festive procession led by the Carnival Queen and King to the Molí de l'Esquerrà pavilion.
Once the parade is over, the festivities continue with a costume ball, featuring music, entertainment, and the awarding of prizes for the afternoon's competitions. The day culminates with the Sarau del Congre, a fantastic night of concerts and DJs in the pavilion, with free admission and a festive atmosphere lasting well into the early hours.
The following day, Sunday, the Carnival continues with the Matinal del Congre, a new parade of floats, troupes, and vehicles with trailers that travels through several city streets to the Mercadal. The program includes entertainment and a children's musical show, as well as the awards ceremony for the morning's competitions.
The Congre Carnival also stands out for its extensive program of prizes and grants, which recognizes the effort, creativity, and participation of floats, troupes, costumes, and vehicles with trailers. This commitment strengthens the involvement of participants and consolidates Balaguer as one of the most prominent carnival events in the region.
An open, free and participatory party that invites you to experience Carnival in the street, with responsibility, imagination and a great desire to party.
