Festival of Saint Anthony the Abbot in Horta de Sant Joan

The Festival of Saint Anthony the Abbot in Horta de Sant Joan offers a range of traditional and festive activities for everyone.

The festival begins with a walk to the hermitage of Sant Antoni, followed by a popular breakfast. At mid-morning, there is the traditional pine entrance through the main streets of the town, culminating with the arrival at the central square.

During the day, the blessing of the animals and a recital of verses take place, along with the lighting of the bonfire. Burnt rum and traditional sweets are also distributed among the attendees. In the afternoon, the traditional auction takes place, with the proceeds destined to improve the convent, and afterwards a popular dinner is organised for everyone.

Finally, the party concludes with music and dancing by a DJ. There are also raffles of local products and an auction of a trailer of firewood.
