Gastronomic Day of Forgotten Plants in Igualada

The Eixarcolant Collective is celebrating the tenth edition of the Gastronomic Day of Forgotten Plants (JGPO) in Igualada.

This year, the event will feature more than 200 stalls, activities, workshops, and lectures. There will also be a new wild lunch, musical performances, and, as a new feature, a very special treasure hunt.

We are surrounded by plants: in forests, on paths, balconies, parks, and fields. Yet, most of us know almost nothing about what they are or what they are used for. These are the so-called forgotten plants: wild species and traditional varieties that, despite their great potential in everyday life, have been forgotten.

The Forgotten Plants Gastronomic Day is a unique opportunity to discover these plants, learn about their uses, and understand how they can contribute to healthier eating and a more sustainable agricultural model.

Throughout the day, you can explore the fair, sample products, attend workshops, listen to presentations, or simply enjoy live music. The program is extensive and diverse, designed to suit everyone: whether you're passionate about botany or someone who can barely distinguish a lettuce. The event demonstrates that another way of producing, distributing, and consuming food is possible.

This event, unique in Catalonia and of international reference, is possible thanks to the participation of more than 120 top-level speakers, the completely voluntary organization of the Col·lectiu Eixarcolant, and the dedication of more than 180 volunteers from all over the world.
