Sant Jordi in Torroella de Montgrí
Torroella de Montgrí celebrates Sant Jordi's Day with an extensive and varied program that lasts throughout the month of April, combining literature, thought, music and activities for all ages.
The series begins with the traditional literary afternoon tea at El Cucut Bookstore, a gathering that invites participants to share readings in a relaxed atmosphere. The program continues with outstanding cultural offerings such as "Batec," a musical-poetic performance by Josep Pedrals and Xavi Lloses that fuses poetry and live music.
There is also space for debate and reflection with sessions such as Philosophy in the Agora, which addresses current issues, and literary discussions to understand the present through reading. At the same time, the municipality joins in the International Day of Art celebrations with an open house at the Visual Arts Center, offering a creative and participatory experience.
The highlight of the day is the Sant Jordi celebration, with the traditional book fair, rose displays, and booths for various organizations in Plaça de la Vila. The day is further enriched with activities such as poetry readings for students, the presentation of the El Càlam Literary Awards, sardana dance performances, and musical and participatory events like the lip-sync performances by Grup Argent Viu.
The program continues with family activities such as creative workshops, as well as cultural and recreational offerings such as musical vermouth, special reading clubs with guest authors and book presentations.
