Càntut Festival in Cassà de la Selva
On the street, in the bar, in the squares, in the restaurants, in the theaters, in the shops... there is no better place to sing than everywhere! And that is what Càntut aims to do: to promote oral tradition singing and music to be heard everywhere, in various forms, and all day long for a weekend!
The Càntut project was born in 2012 to collect and disseminate the oral musical heritage of the Girona regions.
It has three aspects: the songbook, with more than a thousand love, picaresque, children's, religious, historical songs... collected by song hunters and sung by older people; the festival, which takes place during the autumn in Cassà de la Selva with the aim of bringing these repertoires to life, and the productions, with projects with a life of their own that link oral tradition with the present.
