The Falset Encamissada
The weekend closest to 17 January, the day of Sant Antoni, is the Encamissada, declared a festival of national interest and considered one of the most representative festivals of Falset. During these days, the "falsetans" and "falsetanes" dress in traditional clothes and, on Saturday night and Sunday at noon, they tour the streets of the town in carriages.
The Encamisada is linked to the festival of Saint Anthony, but also recalls a legend that dates back to the French War. According to tradition, the "falsetans" took advantage of a foggy night to dress in white, go unnoticed and free themselves from the siege to which they were subjected.
