The Three Tombs of Igualada

From 17/01/2025 to 19/01/2025
Igualada

The cavalcade of the "Tonis", as the participants of the Tres Tombs are popularly known, is a constant parade with a circular route, which takes place three times through the old area of Igualada, made up of transport carts, carriages, and groups of horsemen.

The standard-bearers of the Tres Tombs also take part, carrying the guild flags: the small one and the large one, dating from 1822 and 1856.

During the last turn, all the animals present are blessed, and at the end, blessed bread rolls are distributed to the horses. It is also worth mentioning that it is traditional during this festival to eat the Saint Anthony cake.

Since 1960, the Tres Tombs procession has included the “Diligència Igualadins”, an exact reproduction of the means of communication between Igualada and Barcelona.

The Three Tombs of Igualada is a festival declared of National Tourist Interest, along with others such as the Corpus Christi of Sitges or the Passion of Esparreguera.
