In parallel to the Tordera there is a path that allows us to go from Sant Celoni to Hostalric without stepping on any road. Some stretches are cool and approach the riverbed. Other sections are more open, and cross fields, crops and wastelands.
The route is 6 km away and is of low difficulty.
We start!
The path begins crossing the Tordera by the Olzinelles bridge, at the roundabout of the Puerta de Ponent, but if you start the itinerary from the center of Sant Celoni, you can do it crossing the bridge over the Tordera River at the height of Can Pàmies.
If we take as departure point the Tourist Office (carrer Major, 53) we will go down San Martí Street until we meet the railway line, which we will cross by the underground passage that is a few meters on the left. Now we are in Industria Street, where we will descend until we find the C-35. Just in front of the gas station we will find the underpass to cross the road and that will take us to the last section of Industria street before meeting the river.
From this point you can see the footbridge to cross the Tordera and take the track that will take you to the Batllòria. The whole route follows the current of the river on its right hand side, between the river and the AP-7 motorway.
In the first section, which goes to the Vilardell bridge, the industrial estate of the Planas mill on the left and the AP-7 motorway on the right come very close to the river bank, and this makes the road through a narrow strip of land, with the river to touch. The footbridge of the polygon marks the beginning of the zone enabled for public Horta.
A little before the bridge of Vilardell, the highway and the river approach so much that the way descends and passes partly covered by the highway, that makes a cantilever. From the bridge, the space widens, and the path passes through meadows and riparian vegetation.
Further on, the old footbridge of the wooden bridge indicates the beginning of the industrial estate of Gualba, where there is a sudden widening of the distance between the highway and the river, and we find an intense repopulation on the margins of the road: to the nearby areas Alders, white willows, elms, poplars, poplar, saulics, twigs, triggers and elders were planted in the river; and in the most remote areas, oak, holm oak, poplar, elm, ash, durillo, aladierno, aligustre and blackthorn. Meadow and fields are also reconditioned with topsoil. This area of intense repopulation coincides with the stretch where the river delimits Sant Celoni, on the right, with Gualba, on the left.
We arrive at the Gualba walkway, and then, just before reaching the Batllòria, the river describes a large curve and delimits an extensive plain of meadows and páramos.
Finally, we arrive at the Batllòria, where we take the new bridge over the Tordera that will allow us to cross it and access the town center.
If you want to continue walking, you can go to the Llobateres following this same path. The characteristics of the route can be consulted through the link Las Llobateres from La Batllòria.
