Caramelles Singing and Dancing in Gelida

The Cantada and Ballada de Caramelles is a deep-rooted tradition in Gelida that is celebrated every Easter Sunday.

From early morning, the Artesans Choir, accompanied by the Igualada Triomfal copla, walks through the streets of the town performing the traditional Caramelles, songs that celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and the arrival of spring.

In addition to the singing, the Esbart Rocasagna performs the Caramelles Dance, which complements the celebration. The festivities, documented in Gelida since 1897, are a living example of Catalan cultural heritage, preserved thanks to the active participation of the population.
