Carousel Costa Brava. Palafrugell spring festivals
The Palafrugell Spring Festival is one of the city's most deeply rooted and traditional festivities. The central and most famous event is the Carrousel Costa Brava, a parade of floats and groups, both local and from all over Catalonia. The parade takes place on June 1st, starting at 5:30 p.m.
This celebration has its origins in the 1963 ban on Carnival. At that time, the Fraternal Center Board decided that Carnival should still be celebrated, but with a change of month and name, to avoid a new ban.
The Spring Festival has become a major event for Palafrugell , engaging the entire population through various activities. The festival's program of events is extremely varied, with a wide range of cultural, sporting, and musical offerings.
