Festival of the Old Town of Barcelona
From June 18th to 30th, the Old Town Festival of Barcelona is celebrated around the feast of Saint Peter. The festival program features more folkloric and traditional activities, such as human towers, fire runs, gatherings, parades, and giant dances. In addition, large communal meals are organized, including dinners, butifarradas (sausages), and vermouths, as well as festival dances, street theater performances, and workshops.
The neighborhoods of Sant Pere, Santa Caterina, and Ribera are located within Barcelona's old city walls, in the Ciutat Vella district. This location gives them a special character, with narrow, intertwined streets that have maintained their artisanal essence over the years. Recently, the area has experienced a revival thanks to the arrival of independent and alternative artists, who have contributed to the opening of art galleries, bars, restaurants, antique shops, and nightclubs.
The Casc Antic Festival Coordinator is the organization that brings together neighborhood organizations and associations responsible for coordinating the patron saint festivities during the last week of June. This collaboration results in a wide variety of activities suitable for all ages. Among the offerings are large communal meals, festival dances, street theater performances, and workshops. Popular culture is very much alive in these neighborhoods, and therefore, the festive program includes folkloric and traditional activities, such as human towers, fire runs, gatherings, parades, and giant dances.
We look forward to seeing you!
