Saint George in Lliçà d'Amunt
Lliçà d'Amunt is presented as a cultural and festive weekend proposal that combines tradition, citizen participation and activities for all ages.
The program begins on Saturday with the opening of the fair, where local businesses and organizations fill the space with stalls and diverse offerings. During the afternoon, creative workshops open to everyone take place, such as crafts, mask making, and the collective construction of the Sant Jordi dragon, encouraging family participation and imagination.
The festive atmosphere is further enhanced by entertainment such as a circus show, as well as prominent cultural activities like the awards ceremony for the Lletraferit literary competition, which celebrates local literary talent. Meanwhile, traditional dance takes center stage with workshops and performances of gypsy and sardana dances, reinforcing the connection to Catalan folk culture.
One of the most emblematic moments of the day is "The Awakening of the Dragon," a parade that winds through the town's streets and culminates in its burning, a spectacle brimming with symbolism and emotion. Also noteworthy are the solemn dance of the giants and the blessing of the bouquet of roses, central elements of the Sant Jordi tradition.
Sunday continues with popular activities such as a sausage barbecue and a flamenco dance, reinforcing the community spirit of the festival. In the afternoon, the program concludes with a family show inspired by the legend of Saint George, designed especially for children.
Sant Jordi in Lliçà d'Amunt becomes a complete celebration that unites literature, tradition and festivities in a participatory and friendly atmosphere.
