Habaneras sung from Calella de Palafrugell 2026
One of the most well-known and beloved events on the Costa Brava is coming.
The famous habanera singing festival in Calella de Palafrugell takes place on the first Saturday of July in the Port Bo square. Other activities are also held in the town, such as concerts and a craft market.
The Habanera Singing Festival of Calella de Palafrugell originated following the publication of the book "Calella de Palafrugell and the Habaneras" in 1966. The first singing took place in 1967 on Calau beach, and two years later it moved to the Port Bo square, where it is still held today.
Over the years, the Cantada has become one of Catalonia's most important musical traditions and a landmark event on the Costa Brava. Every first Saturday of July, it brings together thousands of people and showcases the habanera, a genre deeply rooted in Catalan popular culture. In addition to its cultural value, the Cantada has a significant tourist, social, and media impact, especially thanks to its television broadcast.
Beyond the spectacle, this event has decisively contributed to keeping the habanera alive, giving prestige to its performers and spreading this genre throughout Catalonia.
Don't miss it!
