Arsèguel

Arsèguel is a municipality located northeast of the Alt Urgell. It lies just to the bottom of the Sierra del Cadi. Most of the population is located in the center of the village: Arsèguel, although there are a group of people located in the heart of El Pont d'Arsèguel, plus some farmhouses around the area. For its core runs the river bearing the same name of the people, Arsèguel.

In this town we highlight different aspects, all very interesting and help us to understand the life of this region of Catalonia.

Arsèguel has an important role as regards the musical world. Since the 70s can be considered as the capital Arsèguel accordion, as each summer, in July, is celebrated Acordionistes Trobada dels amb els Pyrenees, which is, at once, the popular music festival oldest the Catalan.

In another aspect, we emphasize the importance of the area for architecture. Input, include medieval origins Arsèguel core with Arabic roof houses, wooden balconies and stone buildings and streets, then the Romanesque church of Santa Coloma and, finally, the remains of the castle or Castellot Cladell, XII-XIII century, we find in the streets and some houses in the village.

Another aspect to consider when talking about Arsèguel wool factory is, in this case, located in the heart of El Pont d'Arsèguel. Here we can see how, even today, is taking wool works as an energy source water and old machinery, including a spinning eighteenth century design. From here come warm elements characteristic and typical of the area, such as booties, masks and blankets pastor.

The surroundings of the town also are conducive and suitable for walking and hiking and picking mushrooms, thus enjoying nature.
