Mollerussa
Mollerusa, capital of the plain of Urgell in the province of Lleida, Catalonia.
The town has grown since the 19th century around the Urgell canal, which transports water from the River Segre to the nearby fields. The installation of the union of irrigators turned the population into the administrative headquarters of the peasants of the region, since the 20th century both agriculture and the industrial sector were developed. Today there are more than 14,000 inhabitants in an area of 7.05 km², which makes it one of the Catalan cities with the highest population density.
