Pira
The town of Pira (385 m altitude), located on the right bank of the Anguera River, on the eastern limit of the term, forms a small peninsula bordered by this river and a small torrent. It is made up of the neighborhoods of Pira, Pireta, Piroia, la Carrerada and, more modernly, Miralpeix. On the highest site there are remains of the original church and the old castle. The current parish church, Sant Salvador, is from the 19th century. The winery of the Pira Agricultural Cooperative deserves special attention. It was inaugurated in 1919, a modernist work by the architect Cèsar Martinell, and later enlarged. In the old town of Pira there are some manor houses from the 18th century, among which Cal Celdoni, Cal Batllevell and Cal Poblet stand out. Among the most typical festivals of the town, it is worth mentioning the festival of San Salvador, in August, and the small festival, which is celebrated for San Sebastián, in May.
