Prats i Sansor

Located in the lower Cerdanya region, to the left of the Segre River, on both sides of the regional road that connects Bellver de Cerdanya and Alp. It is the smallest municipality in the region. It lies on the historical and geographical boundaries (along the Saig pass ) between the small ( La Batllia ) and large Cerdanya regions. Since 1833, Prats i Sansor has been part of the provincial demarcation of Lleida.

The municipality is made up of three population centers.

Prats

The village of Prats is located at an altitude of 1,124 m. It is situated on the plain, but next to the slope of the Urús Tertiary terrace. It is the center of the town, home to the town hall, school, doctor's office, and community center. This area features old farmhouses, some restored, and modern homes.

The Hermitage of San Salvador is worth mentioning. It's a small sanctuary built on top of a hill where you can enjoy one of the best views of the Cerdanya plain and the Batllías.

The first documentary reference to Prats dates back to 982 and refers to it as Pratis. This is a Latin toponym that refers to "a place where grass grows for cattle grazing" or to "an area abundantly irrigated directly by a spring." Later documents speak of Prats as a fortified place at all times.

Sansor

Sansor is located at an altitude of 1,068 m. Situated in the middle of the plain, in the Pla de la Ribera and near the Tossal de Balltarga, it still preserves the remains of the church of Sant Miquel. The lignite mines and the astronomical observatory were important. Of particular note in this area are the prospecting and excavation work carried out at the archaeological site of Montlleó, an open-air settlement dating back to the Upper Paleolithic.

Capdevila

On the outskirts of the neighborhood is an iron cross, from where you can admire a beautiful panoramic view of Cerdanya. There is also the parish church of Sant Serni de Prats, which dates back to the late 9th or early 10th century and has a two-eyed bell tower on the western facade.

Urbanization of the Pla

The "El Pla" residential development stands out in the municipality's geography, occupying an area of approximately 89 hectares. Created through a 1965 urban development project, it is primarily occupied by second homes, but also features an industrial and hotel zone.

Places of interest

Hermitage of Sant Salvador de Pedrianes

The first record of it dates back to the 12th century, when it was sacked, like other Cerdanian churches, by Count Ramon Roger de Foix and Viscount Arnau de Castellbó. Situated in an enviable location, it commands some of the best views in the entire region.

Church of Sant Serni

Built on a previous one that was built towards the end of the 9th century or beginning of the 10th century. In 1999 a new bell was baptized.
