Santpedor

Santpedor touches on the terms of Castellnou de Bages, Sallent, Sant Fruitós de Bages, Sant Joan de Vilatorrada and Callús. We can divide the urban center into two areas: the Old Quarter and the Eixample.

The Old Town is made up of the streets around the Plaza Grande and the Plaza de la Iglesia, they are narrow and short streets that were inside the walls. The old neighborhood is of medieval origin.

The Eixample area surrounds the entire Old Town and in recent years has had significant growth. Scattered throughout the area we also find several country houses, with farms, crop fields and forests.

The surroundings of Santpedor offer us a varied and attractive landscape, suitable for good walks. The climate of Santpedor is a medium-mountain Mediterranean climate, since it is far from the influence of the sea.

Temperatures vary greatly from one season to another, summers are very hot, while winters are generally cold, with quite a few frosts. The rains are concentrated mainly in spring and autumn.

In Santpedor we find surface waters that are collected, to the west, in the Riera de Bellver and in the Olius torrent and end up in the Cardener, and to the east, in the Sebarroja torrent and the Río d'or and end up in the Llobregat.

We also find underground water. In the past they were used in the wells of houses and with the Escales fountain. Currently these waters fill the Bòbila wetlands. In the municipality there are only two fountains, Burgaroles and Font de la Riera.
