Alió

The municipality of Alió is located in the southern half of the county of Alt Camp, in the province of Tarragona. It consists of a single urban area that extends from the flat, west of the capital of the region, Valls and bounded on the north by the end of Vila-rodona and Pla de Santa Maria, on the west and south Valls and those of Puigpelat Bràfim.

Just get to the village, and found, at the entrance of the village, the Agricultural Cooperative. It is a building with a modernist winery built in 1911 noted for its facade, combining different materials with brick and ceramics. A few years later Cesar Marinell did expand in 1917.

Once in the old-which maintains the structure of the medieval enclosure castle courtyard and the structure of the wall, find the square at its center crowned by the church of Sant Bartomeu. This church is a baroque building in neoclassical style which emphasizes its square bell with a torrilla unfinished. The building was blessed on 1769, has inside a large nave and side chapels between the buttresses. This urban center maintains the charm of a medieval village. In fact, the walled town was declared of cultural interest in 1985. The Wall Street along with the High Street forms the main axis of the township and original.

During the nineteenth century became an important wine made aguardiente appear different. Today, all that remains, to enjoy the taste, cuisine with a good base of nuts.

The festivals are celebrated d'Alió as in many populations in two batches: the summer and winter. The first is performed by Sant Bartomeu, in August, and the second by Sant Sebastia, in January.
