Riells i Viabrea

Riells and Viabrea are located on the border between the Selva region and the Vallès Oriental region. This municipality has a privileged geographical location, as it forms part of the Montseny Natural Park and is also crossed by the Riells stream, one of the tributaries of the Tordera river.

Riells and Viabrea is distributed vertically, with various developments and residential areas scattered over its territory. The urban center of the population can be seen in the Plaza de Can Salvà, where a large 19th century farmhouse with the same name stands out. The Can Salvà manor house is made up of a ground floor, first floor and attic, and is currently the seat of the Riells and Viabrea town hall.

Of all the architectural heritage we can highlight the church of Sant Martí de Riells del Montseny. This Romanesque building from the 12th century can be seen in the northern sector of the municipal district. With a simple architectural style, the two columns on the façade stand out, as well as the stained glass windows inside and the belfry with its two imposing bells. Another emblematic point is the hermitage of Sant Llop. This small Romanesque church, which stands on a hill, houses a central courtyard that can be accessed by stairs and where different popular gatherings are held.
