Riudellots de la Selva
The municipality of Riudellots de la Selva is located in the northern sector of the region, next to the urban area of Gerona. Its geography is something special, since it occupies a part of the drained area of the Onyar river. This river is the main protagonist of the population, because in its path it leaves numerous tributaries that surround the town of water. This situation meant that the history of Riudellots was marked by the course of the waters of the Onyar, which favored its economic dedication to focus on rural activity. However, the frequent floods caused this practice to be lost and the current economic engine of the town is industry.
Riudellots de la Selva is a municipality in which its fauna and flora stand out. Thanks to the presence of water, when walking along the riverbeds you can find aquatic species such as eels and the American red crab. Its vegetation is also very rich, and Mediterranean climate forests such as oak and holm oak groves abound. The combination of these elements makes Riudellots the ideal place for nature lovers.
