Sant Andreu Salou

The municipality of Sant Andreu Salou, which has an area of 6 km2, is located in the Gironès region, in the province of Girona, and borders the municipalities of Riudellots de la Selva, Campllong, Cassà de la Selva and Caldes de Malavella

Due to its territorial and morphological characteristics, the municipality of Sant Andreu Salou is a former and currently an agroforestry municipality, made up of a mosaic landscape where crops dominate and forest masses and inhabited points are interspersed. The livestock sector is also important with the presence of small and medium-sized poultry and cattle farms; there are a couple of farms of important dimensions in the term. The industrial sector is absent in the municipality.

The population lives in scattered areas: the upper neighborhood (located in the center of the municipality), the lower neighborhood (to the north), the Las Bosques neighborhood (to the south) and Sant Andreu Salou (in the north centre), the latter being the administrative and cultural center where the church and the Town Hall are. A single main road (local road) links the 4 neighborhoods and crosses the municipality from north to south and from east to west.

In recent years the municipality has begun to experience a process of transformation, starting with the progressive abandonment of agricultural and livestock activity, although this is still a very important sector within the local economy, which has given rise to new job sectors, facing services.
