Massanes
The municipality of Massanes, of 25.7 km2, is quite uneven and surrounded by forests with abundant vegetation, especially in its northernmost sector, where it borders the Sierra de Clarà.
It extends to the left bank of the Tordera and to the right of the final course of the Santa Coloma stream. It limits with the terms of Riudarenes to the north, Maçanet de la Selva to the east, Fogars de la Selva to the south and Hostalric and Sant Feliu de Buixalleu to the west. In the center of the municipality is the town center which, despite the flooding of the 1970s and 1980s, is quite small in size. The rest of the population is spread over the four neighborhoods or districts: Marquès, Cambrerol, Collformic and Rieral, as well as in small urbanizations developed in the 70s and 80s of the 20th century, with many second homes. It has also developed, near Hostalric, an important industrial estate.
